TRAQ advocates for increased access to trails for group events like fun runs and walks. You can read about the issues in these two attachments.

TRAQ prepared a background paper prior to an April meeting with Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service’s senior South-East Queensland managers, and provided a shorter overview for a meeting with the Minister for Sustainability Andrew McNamara at an April 2008 Community Cabinet meeting.

Coming out of these two meetings, a Trail Events Forum was established with Queensland Outdoor Recreation Federation (QORF) support and invitations sent to all known trails event organisers and organisations. The first meeting was held on 29 May; you can read the minutes here and a report here

TRAQ is a member of the National Parks Association of Queensland) (NPAQ) and QORF and a committee member attends their AGMs each year as well as other meetings.

In 2013 Ian Javes was invited to speak at QORF and assisted by Tim Miller presented a history of trail running and TRAQ to QORF. You can view this presentation online.

We are interested in continuing our advocacy efforts in the future. If you are interested in helping or have experience in advocacy or lobbying please contact us at info@traq.org.au.
