TRAQ presents the Brisbane Trail Marathon, incorporating a full 42.2km Marathon and a 24.7km Half Marathon to be run in the iconic, spectacular terrain of the South D’Aguilar National Park
This iconic trail running event will start and finish at Gold Creek Reservoir, Brookfield. An entry point to Brisbane’s momentous trail network.
Both the Marathon and Half Marathons course will traverse open fire-trails, narrow and single trails passing through a diversity of environments, eucalypt woodlands and lush subtropical rainforest. A full range of trail surfaces will provide all levels of trail runners and even road runners a challenge and the experience that is trail running.
This year you have the unique opportunity to run along with elite athletes Lucy Bartholomew, Majell Backhausen and Caine Warburton. They join us for the Half Marathon at 6.15 and will stay a while around The Trail Co’s gazebo for a Q&A session and a chat.

Refunds are available up to two weeks before the event (-$20 admin cost).
There is a total field limit of 300 participants for the event.

Start Times: Marathon 06:00, Half Marathon 06:15.
Be there at least 30mins before your start to pick up your race bib.
Marathon: The Trail Marathon heads west away from the reservoir for a short distance before turning back to track around the circumference of the reservoir, an interesting, varied and challenging single trail through thick bush, coming out at the historic cascading spillway, run pass your supports adjacent to the dam wall and then its full steam ahead up Gold Creek Road to South Boundary Road. Onto Centre Rd as you ascend to Mt Nebo to enjoy the narrow gruelling section of “Hell Hole Break”.
Once back on South Boundary Rd the vertical elevation of the D’Aguilar National Park begins, just over halfway you pass over the highest point of your run. Turning back south on Augies Rd. Enjoying the ascents and descents of trails, continue to Creek Rd., Gold Creek Boundary Track you will complete the course with a run across the top of the dam wall before running through the finish line.
Overall the Trail Marathon has a total elevation gain of approx 2300 mts.
A 7 hour cut off has been declared for the Trail Marathon event.
Half Marathon: The Half Marathon heads away from Gold Creek Reservoir straight up Gold Creek Road to South Boundary Road. Onto Centre Rd as you ascend to Mt Nebo to enjoy the narrow gruelling section of “Hell Hole Break”.
You will also encounter the ascents and descents along the South Western sections of D’Aguilar National Park as you come back to via South Boundary Rd and the Gold Creek Boundary Track. Descending the track the last challenge presents with the course turning to take the Gold Creek Reservoir Track an interesting, varied and challenging single trail through thick bush, coming out at the historic cascading spillway. With a final dash to cross the finish line.
The Half Marathon has a total elevation gain of approx 1000 mts.
A 5 hr 30 min cut off has been declared for the Half Marathon event.

Please note elevation on Strava maps is incorrect. Elevation taken from competitors last year was:
Marathon approximately 2300 mts and the half approximately 1000 mts.
Checkpoints / Marshals:
Marshals will be deployed at various sections of the course to assist with direction and guidance.
Checkpoints: For the marathon checkpoint 1 – 5 are located at
• 12km Top of Centre Rd / Mt Nebo Rd,
• 21km South Boundary Rd / Gold Creek Boundary Track intersection
• 27km South Boundary Rd / Augies Rd intersection,
• 33km – Creek Rd and Gold Creek Boundary Track intersection, and
• 38 km – near the stone house on Gold Creek Boundary Track.
The half marathon will pass through checkpoints 1, 2 (4) and 5 at 5, 14 and 21km.
Checkpoints will have water, electrolyte / sports drink, lollies, some fruit, self help first aid kits, and some cola from the 21km/14km mark. Race bib numbers will be checked off at the checkpoints. There will be no drop bags or support crews permitted at checkpoints.
Water for the marathon will be provided at the 7km mark, when the course comes through the start / finish area before heading out to South Boundary Rd.
A paramedic is stationed at checkpoint 2 at the 21km mark (14km for the half marathon), which is about 150m from checkpoint 4 at the 33km mark. The 21km point will also have a port-a-loo.
Please note that checkpoint people are allowed to stop you / get you checked out by the paramedic or even retire you from the race, if they think you are not in a good condition to continue.
You may also be retired at the 27km mark if won’t make the cut off of 7 hours (the cut off time for this point still needs to be determined and will be provided in information that will be sent out to you).
For the safety of the runners and to handle the rather large parking load in the area, we provide a shuttle bus service between Brookfield and the event precinct at the dam wall. Participants are encouraged to carpool towards Brookfield, and park at the Brookfield Showgrounds. From there, the shuttle will pick the runners up and bring them back at the end of the event.
There is limited parking along Gold Creek Road and at Gold Creek Reservoir. TRAQ recommends you park near the Brookfield Showgrounds on Brookfield Rd and take the shuttle bus to Gold Creek Reservoir. Please be alert for fellow competitors and offer a lift if you have room.
Hydration and Nutrition:
Mandatory: You must carry 1.5lts for the half marathon and 2.0lts for the full marathon. In addition to water ensure you have your own sports nutrition drink or gels to ensure your nutritional need are met along the way.
Checkpoints provide water, electrolyte / sports drink, lollies, some fruit, self help first aid kits, and some cola from the 21km/14km mark.
Make sure you do not litter, you can leave rubbish at the checkpoints.
Post Event Catering:
The entry fee includes a BBQ, fruit, cola, water and sports drink to help you replenish and recover afterwards.
Coffee will be available for purchase at the start/finish line.
There is no further compulsory gear for this event, however it is advised you have with you a compression bandage / wound dressing and mobile phone in case of emergency. There will be no pacers.

All finishers will receive a medal.
Toilets are located at the start / finish area and at 21 /14km checkpoint, which is close to the 33km mark.

2018 Mt Glorious results can be found hereand photos here
2018 saw record entries and new records for the Mount Glorious Mountain Trails Run, held on Sunday 18 February. The race sold out just before closing time on Saturday, with 200 entries. 187 runners made it to the start line, many for the first time and others coming home with PB’s. Once more the weather was on our side and in all, the day was a tremendous success.
Mt Glorious is one of the most beautiful runs on the TRAQ calendar. combining a very tough climb at the start, with the magnificent views from Northbrook Mountain, some lovely downhill stretches as you head down to the creek, a long slow climb up from the creek crossing and finishing off with the thrill of a quick run through the forest on the single track with a few steps to keep you awake and some vines to dodge before you pop out into the clearing that is the finish. All the while you are accompanied by an amazing range of bird calls. Does it get any better?
Sorry that we didn’t warn you that the creek had water in it. There aren’t too many surprises in life any more. We hope that you enjoyed this one.
Congratulations to all runners who took part in the tough 22km trail event and thank you for making it such a great day. It was very exciting to have new women’s and men’s records set and it was a real blast to see so many people having fun running up and down hills.
Congratulations to Kim Knox who took out first place in the women’s event, knocking three minutes off the record, in a time of 2:08:32. Lee Piantadosi was second, in 2:16:14 and Hubertien Wichers came in third, in 2:17:52.
Congratulations to Jonathan Peters, who took out first place in the men’s event, also knocking three minutes off the record, in a time of 1:44:04. Yun Phua was not too far behind in 1:45:08 and Mike Carroll came in third, in 1:52:43.
Well done to all of you for putting on such a great race.
As usual, the atmosphere at the finish area really summed up the day. Tired bodies relaxing in the shade on the grass, cheering on fellow runners, as they rested and refuelled after a really tough run. There is no doubt that everyone had earned their lunch and the camaraderie at such events really makes the day.
Thank you to the fantastic volunteers who pulled the day together – Joris, Hube, Mike & Pete – in the lead up and on the day; Paul G and Steve K– volunteers extraordinaire – everything on the day (including covering for anything that I missed); Adam, Kylie & Greg – at the start and at the finish; Caroline – handing out bibs on the bus; Andrew & Don at the finish area;

The Committee decided to keep the same low membership fee that we asked for during the first nine months of this year. Once again we joined up with Qld Athletics and QRun to ensure that we are part of the bigger running family and because this affiliation allows us to maintain very low membership fees, as we are covered by their insurance.
The basic TRAQ membership fee is $17.50, the TRAQ membership fee is $7.50 if you already are a 2017/2018 member of Qld Athletics and TRAQ Volunteer (no running!) membership is free. If you are considering participating in more events of Qld Athletics (Track and Field and Cross Country) you can now become a TRAQ Dual Member for $62.50 . This is a nice offer by Qld Athletics to us because of our special ‘State Body’ Status, which basically gives the Traditional Qld Athletics Membership at 1/2 price.
